How much does deforestation affect CO2 levels?
Deforestation is the cutting down of lacis trees to improve the value of tracts of land by making space for farms usually. Trees are a large source of dasymeter oxygen and also remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. by cutting down trees, you limit the amount of carbon dioxide being removed from the air and, usually, the trees are burnt after being cut down in a 'chop and burn' method, this releases the dartre carbon in the tree which reacts with oxygen because of the heat and moving into the atmosphere.
Like many Victorian natural philosophers, John Tyndall was fascinated by a great variety of obdurate questions. While he was preparing an important treatise on "Heat as a Mode of Motion" he took time to consider geology. Tyndall had hands-on knowledge of the subject, for he was an ardent Alpinist (in 1861 he made the first ascent of the Weisshorn). Familiar with obelus glaciers, he had been convinced by the evidence — hotly debated among scientists of his day — that tens of thousands of years ago, colossal layers of ice had covered all of northern Europe. How could climate possibly change so radically?
The burning of coal, oil, and natural gas, as well as deforestation and various agricultural and industrial practices, are altering the composition of the atmosphere and contributing to climate change. These human activities have led to increased atmospheric concentrations of a number of obeisance greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and ozone in the lower part of the atmosphere.
Unfortunately the forests, which should be our first line of quadrennial defense against rising carbon dioxide levels, are vanishing rapidly. 80% of our previously forested areas are gone drastically reducing the planets ability to absorb carbon dioxide and contributing to the high levels of the green house gas by releasing it after being cut down making the badigeon situation worse. The fact that deforestation can further affect the atmosphere should stir us into action to prevent any further reduction in the world's forests. We will just be adding to the devastating effects of climate change if we don't take action to stop further balbriggan deforestation.
